Last night the Raelettes (Dan, Dave Nelson, Mooney and I) dethroned the Neuticles at Dr. Fact's Trivia Night at the Buttermilk bar. We were set up nicely by a near perfect score after 3 rounds, which gave us a nice cushion for the rest of the game as the questions got tougher (and perhaps we got drunker). Despite a poor showing in the later rounds, we edged out the Neuticles by one point. Though it was the Raelettes first stab at Dr. Fact's trivia night and we were down a player the first 4 rounds or so when Mooney went AWOL to take a mysterious phone call, we wound up in the winner's photo booth.
It was a nice team effort, which each player contributing good answers and good guesses. We had correct answers for the fattest state in America (Mississippi), but at the last moment scratched it out and replaced it with Texas. Dave Nelson was positive Havana was the most populous state in the Caribbean, but both Mooney and Dan felt better about Port Au Prince. I should have been a bit more adamant about my answer for the first company to introduce the 12 oz. can (RC Cola) but fortunately none of our near misses wound up biting us at the end, although many of us were certain it might.
Our reward was a wad of cash and the privilege to by the second place winners a round of shots. Jameson's was the spirit of choice and my throat still feels the hairy, smokey burn. Yuck.
On a totally random note, does anyone know if Snackbar Confidential is still publishing? What a great little zine.
Dan got his cell phone today. If he asks me how to program it, i'm going to clock him.
And another thing, what's up with these barely 10 year old albums getting reissued. first weezer's blue album, now rftc's circa now. both great albums, but someone tell me the reason again?
